Крупнейший провайдер Швеции компания Bahnhof разместила свой дата-центр в парке Vita Berg в бывшем ядерном бункере. Этот подземный объект на глубине 30 м называется Pionen («Белая скала»). Он был построен во времена холодной войны, а в 2008 году архитекторы из бюро Albert France-Lanord Architect преобразовали его под нужды шведского ISP.

The end of March brought the awards ceremony for the 11th Under the Roof architecture festival. The winner in the Best Public Interior category was a project by T. Bashkaev Architects and Arch Group for the reconstruction of the network control centre of electricity- distribution company MOESK. The main space is the control room. There in a space of 320 m2 the architects placed a two-level podium made of corian with workstations for six controllers and a wall of video screens. The wall consists of 36 Barco video cubes showing info on the condition of the electricity network. Other space is decorated laconically.

Crisis and designing

The crisis influenced on design for building. The stagnation in the real estate market brought us to reducing of the volume of building greatly and, as a result, the volume of design is also reducing. A redistribution of quality is taking place. The market was a seller’s market. A normal market is a buyer’s one. The so-called ‘theory of queues’ exists, when supply and demand never coincide. You always have a queue. When the market was overheated, clients were queuing for our services and we had to turn projects down. Now the queue has dried up. The projects to order are becoming less and more pragmatic. We have more time to work on a project. Previously, a quality building needed to have equipment from leading manufacturers, but in the near future preference will be given to less well-known brands. When people ask me how things are, I say, «Good». And when people look at me in surprise, I add, «Previously things were very good; now they’re just good».
